Draft Newcastle Coastal Masterplan

The NSW Government, Newcastle City Council and Hunter Surf Life Saving have released a draft Masterplan that will guide the rejuvenation of our beautiful coastline. We have some of the most amazing beaches in Australia but unfortunately in years gone by we have taken a piecemeal approach to its upgrade and maintenance.

The draft Newcastle Coastal Masterplan was endorsed by Council on Tuesday 6 April and is now on public exhibition. The Masterplan includes some common sense ideas that everyone will agree with as well as some new visions that will spark debate. This is a 10 to 20 year plan and it is important to understand that a lot of the ideas will not happen overnight, they will take time and will only occur once the funds and, in some cases, further planning approval is received.

I encourage you to view the draft plan and to have your say in shaping the future of our coastline. There are several ways you can view the plan including visiting the electorate office, 26 Bolton St, Newcastle or you can view and discuss the draft plan with me at one of my mobile offices on Friday 14 May. Please contact the electorate office to make an appointment (02) 4926 1126.
