About Jodi
Jodi McKay was elected as Member for Newcastle in March 2007 and subsequently sworn in to Cabinet in September 2008.
Prior to accepting a Cabinet role, Jodi was a member of the Joint Standing Committee of the Independent Commission Against Corruption and was the Deputy Chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
Growing up in Gloucester, Jodi has been a lifelong resident of the Hunter.
Jodi brings a wealth of experience across a number of fields to the role. Before entering politics Jodi was a television and radio journalist.
She has experience in working with industry to deliver jobs and investment as a Director of the Hunter Manufacturer’s Association.
As a former Director of the Hunter Medical Research Institute and the University of Newcastle Research Associates, Jodi has a strong commitment to growing science and medical research in NSW.
Jodi was sworn in as Minister for the Hunter and Minster for Tourism on 8 September 2008, and subsequently as Minister for Science and Medical Research on 11 November 2008 and Minister for Women on 8 December 2009.
Jodi previously held the positions of Minister for Small Business, Minister Assisting the Minister for Health (Cancer) and Minister for Commerce.
Jodi brings a fresh approach and new ideas to her responsibilities as a Minister and local Member.
